AISI 4130 steel (UNS G41300), also known as 4130 Chromoly steel, is a chrome-molybdenum series low alloy steel with high strength, toughness and hardenability, usually used in quenched and tempered condition.
4130 is a chromium-molybdenum alloy which is one of the most widely used aircraft steels because of its combination of ease of fabrication, weldability and mild hardenability. It has adequate strength for many applications and when resistance to wear and abrasion is required, it may also be nitrided. 4130 is a high quality product melted under the best steel making practices for aircraft quality steels.

4130 is a through-hardening chromium-molybdenum alloy steel. It is stocked in as-drawn, stress-relieved, normalized, or quenched and tempered condition, is not subject to temper-embrittlement, and responds to nitriding.
